Count The Cost

Jesus knew that in extreme cases, there was a time for "beating one's plowshare into a sword". What next? Treaty of Versailles dealt out punishment to the Kaiser's Germany following their defeat in World War One. But nature abhors a vacuum. And from Jesus parable in Luke, "the demon came back to the house that was swept clean and brought 7 more with him; so the house was 7 times worse than when it's master had swept it clean"(Nazism) Any military action needs to be swift and decisive. But that is only phase one. The outcome of World War Two maintained a stable Europe through the continued investment of the Marshall Plan(Nuremberg trials, continued military bases and presence throughout the region that remain TO THIS DAY, humanitarian investment to bring stability and healing to the war torn souls and cities, and a resolve to working with a Muslim population in finding some form of self government that has it's own parliament; it's own balance of power.) Are we all ready for that full commitment? Are we ready on the home front to sacrifice as did "The Greatest Generation"? Rationing fuel, chocolate, tobacco, petro products for the cause? Scrap metal and rubber drives? Because........dropping big bombs in the desert.........it will quell the ISIS noise. But....the follow up and commitment to total war--to total peace--must be our objective. Lest we are forced in the next 10 or 20 years to deal with an even mightier and more savage adversary.
